Healthwatch Manchester quick survey on personal health budgets

Healthwatch Manchester is aware that there is a limited amount of information available to people around Personal Health Budgets.

This survey seeks not only to provide them with more detailed information about this issue but also to provide you with some basic facts about Personal Health Budgets.

Search is on for Manchester’s next wave of women social entrepreneurs

Manchester is seeking a group of fifty women to become the city’s next wave of social entrepreneurs.

Manchester City Council has agreed to support Make A Wave, which aims to train 250 women UK-wide to become social business leaders and start their own projects to bring significant benefits to their communities. Manchester will host a fifty-strong cohort and women over the age of 18 are invited to apply by Sunday 15 December.

Manchester Policy Week runs from 28 October – 1 November at The University of Manchester.

Communities of Interest Report 2013: Gender Chapter - consultation respond by 7 Nov

The Equalities Team at Manchester City Council is currently in the process of refreshing the annual Communities of Interest (COI) report for 2013. Within the report it will include a chapter on Gender. It's essentially a summary of what's happening in Manchester in 2013 with regards to equality as well as issues that need to be highlighted.

The gender chapter from the last Communities of Interest Report (COI) report is attached to give you an idea of what has previously been included.

Commissioning and Integrated Care

Monitor is the sector regulator for health services in England. One of its roles is to ensure that Health and Social Care Act 2012 is implemented and a key focus of the Act is on integrated care. The Act imposes duties on Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to ensure that health services are internally integrated (within NHS provided services) and externally integrated (with health and social services provided by others).

Adactus Housing Relaunch Neighbourhood Fund

Following the first round of neighbourhood funding Adactus have supported or pledged to support 75 projects across Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire totaling £78,000 in 2013/14. The fund is judged by Adactus residents and they have £9,000 still available for community projects.

Projects supported so far this year include funding for events provided by residents’ associations; support for community allotments and gardens and support costs for community groups.

The Royal Brewery Fund

The Royal Brewery Fund’s priority is to encourage and support grass-root community activity. This means small, community-based and locally controlled groups that manage themselves, encourage active participation from volunteers, have minimal cash reserves and limited access to funding support.

Applications are invited from community groups based in the Moss Side and Hulme areas that wish to improve circumstances for people within these communities.

Macc wins Council Infrastructure Contract

As you may be aware, earlier this year the City Council launched a competitive tendering process for the contract to provide support to the city's voluntary and community sector for the next three years.

Grants Programme for Manchester’s Voluntary and Community Sector

There will be a fund of £550k from the three Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) available early January 2014, to Manchester’s Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS). The main aim of the programme of work will be to reduce social isolation and loneliness for people over 50 years old in Manchester.

The programme will also aim to build greater understanding of how the Manchester CCGs can work with VCS organisations to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Manchester residents over the age of 50 years.

End hate crime - grants available for activities in your neighbourhood

Manchester wants to end hate crime by building on the city's reputation for celebrating diversity. You can help do this by holding an event or activity in your neighbourhood during Hate Crime Awareness Week. Your event should raise awareness of hate crime, including what it is and how people can report it.

Your group can apply for a grant of up to £200 to assist you to put on an event or activity in your neighbourhood. Events must take place between Monday 20 January 2014 and Sunday 26 January 2014.
