Course Overview
92% of UK trustees are white, older, and above average income and education. Just 8% of charity trustees are from Black, Asian, and other minority backgrounds, and fewer than 3% are women of colour. 70% of charities find it difficult to recruit trustees, and there are an estimated 100,000 unfilled charity trustee positions in the UK. This half day training course is designed to demystify trustee recruitment for small organisations, and ensure that equity, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of your trustee recruitment.

Getting the right behaviours and dynamics on the board and between board members is an essential ingredient for successful organisations. The Chair’s role in managing these dynamics is key as they have prime responsibility for ensuring the board has a productive culture.
This session will provide useful insight and advice on how to set the tone for the board, create expectations of appropriate trustee behaviours, build positive relationships, and manage difficult dynamics.
This online workshop is aimed at Chairs who are new in post or about to take up the post. The session will explore the leadership skills and knowledge that will make you the most effective Chair you can become – and the support that you might need. The emphasis will be on the strengths you bring, as well as the ‘gaps’ you want to fill. And we will offer some tips that might be useful in your particular setting.
We know that the role of Chair although rewarding can be challenging. Yet, many Chairs tell us that they have little time to reflect on the nature of their role and how to be effective.
This webinar will provide you with an overview of the role of Chair as well as practical guidance and tools to support you to be an effective Chair.
We will cover:
We’ve all had the experience of leaving a poorly run meeting with the feeling that it’s not been a valuable use of people’s time and energy. Well planned and chaired meetings on the other hand can leave participants feeling inspired, energised and with the feeling of having accomplished something useful.
This live webinar will give you the tools for dynamic and productive board meetings.

When the relationship between Chair and Chief Executive is strong they are a dynamic duo, both adding value to the organisation. When the relationship is in trouble it’s hard on both Chair and CEO and the organisation suffers. This digital event explores how to balance the roles and how to bring out the best in each other.
The day’s engagement will look at the CEO/Chair relationship from both perspectives. It is an opportunity for you to hear from and share ideas with your peers.
